Terramay
The cradle of our sustainably produced meat, located in the heart of Portugal, where traditional farming methods and a profound love of nature form the foundation of our commitment to quality and environmental awareness.

Our journey began more than five years ago on a 560-hectare plot of land in the village of Rosário in Portugal. The land resembled a desert: the soil was heavily eroded, as the land had not been worked and maintained for years. Apart from grass, bushes, a few olive trees and (fortunately) many cork oaks, there was not much else. In order to make the land fertile again, David and his team decided to use a cultivation method that was common in the past: regenerative agriculture. Permaculture, agroforestry, terra preta, keyline design, cover crops, no-till farming and holistic planned grazing are the methods that contribute to healthy soil development.
In the meantime, this has resulted in our impressive “Terramay” farm, where fruit, vegetables and cereals grow naturally. Without genetically modified seeds, without chemicals. The farm's inhabitants also include Mertolenga cattle, black Alentejo pigs, goats, sheep, chickens, horses, bees and Malhadinha the dog. They all play an active role in the management of the land and thus contribute to the improvement of the entire ecosystem. Terramay consistently follows the principles of regenerative agriculture. The team passes on its knowledge to the community in the region and documents it so that it can be passed on to future generations.
